Morocco’s airports authority (ONDA) this week launched “Aerobus,” a new shuttle service designed to improve connections between Mohammed V International Airport and the city of Casablanca.
The initiative comes ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host in late December. It is part of the “Airports 2030” strategy, which aims to double national airport capacity in the coming years.
The service provides a direct link between Casa Port and Terminals 1 and 2, while also stopping in several major districts of Casablanca, the country’s economic hub. It complements existing transport options such as trains and taxis, and aims to make access to the airport easier, especially during peak travel periods linked to the Hajj pilgrimage.
Each bus can carry up to 80 passengers, including 26 seated. ONDA expects around 4,500 passengers per day, anticipating a significant shift from private cars to a more efficient public transport option.
As Morocco’s main air hub, Mohammed V Airport handles nearly a third of the country’s traffic. It processed 10.5 million passengers in 2024, out of a national total of 32.7 million.
A new terminal that will add capacity for 20 million passengers is under construction and is expected to increase demand for transport links to and from the airport.
