Program covers child protection, health, education and inclusion
Part of National Development Plan 2026-2030
Follows CPD 2021-2025, which supported schooling and infant survival
The priority areas of the program include child protection, health, water, hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, education, social policy and inclusion, as well as support for adolescents and young people. It aligns with the National Development Plan (PND 2026-2030) and is designed to help accelerate human development.
Côte d’Ivoire has recorded notable economic and social progress in recent years in protecting and promoting children’s rights. These gains stem in part from reduced inequality in access to education and health care, as well as the rollout of innovative initiatives such as the digitalization of school and medical services to reach remote communities.
Jean-François Basse, Unicef resident representative in Côte d’Ivoire, said the latest Demographic and Health Survey (DHS 2021) shows improvements in key indicators related to children’s rights. He attributed this progress to declining poverty and lower child mortality. However, challenges remain, including child labor, violence, and unequal access to education and health services.
The Ivorian government is working with Unicef to improve living conditions for children. The CPD 2026-2030 cooperation program follows the CPD 2021-2025, which delivered several notable results: 851 out-of-school children were reintegrated into the education system, nearly 500,000 young people received technical and vocational training, and 4,270 premature infants survived through the kangaroo mother care method.
