Morocco has announced a temporary Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for supporters from eight African nations who are normally exempt from a visa requirement. The measure is being implemented in anticipation of the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025. The affected countries are Algeria, Senegal, Niger, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Togo, and Tunisia.
This new process aims to manage the flow of fans across borders and ensure smooth logistics for their entry into Morocco. It is intended to help guarantee the success of the major sporting event, which will be held from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. The ETA will be in effect from September 25, 2025, to January 25, 2026.
Fans wishing to attend the matches must apply for the electronic visa through the "YALLA" application, created specifically for the event by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to ensure the smooth running of the competition and to prepare for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal. Other measures already announced include the "Décollage 2025" plan to modernize the country's airports and the goal of completing 120 infrastructure projects by December 2025.
During this period, visa applications for other purposes, such as tourism or official visits, must be submitted at least 96 hours before the planned travel date through a separate online portal.
