Plan aligns with 2026-2030 strategy on economy, services, resilience
Part of broader push to fund $205 billion national plan
Côte d'Ivoire and the United Nations signed a new Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (SDCF) for 2026-2030 on Tuesday, a programme expected to channel more than $1 billion into national development priorities over the next five years.
According to a statement from Côte d'Ivoire's Ministry of Planning and Development, nearly 40% of the funding has already been secured or is still being sourced.
Aligned with the National Development Plan (NDP) 2026-2030, the framework is built around three main pillars: structural transformation of the Ivorian economy; equitable access to essential social services and stronger social cohesion; and environmental resilience underpinned by sustainable governance.
At the signing ceremony, Planning and Development Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba described the agreement as a new milestone in ties between Abidjan and the U.N. system. He added that "the government and the United Nations will ensure rigorous oversight, backed by robust evaluation mechanisms, with a commitment to transparency and accountability to partners."
The NDP 2026-2030 is the government’s roadmap for accelerating economic transformation and achieving upper-middle-income status by 2030. The plan calls for more than 114,838.5 billion CFA francs (approximately $205 billion) in investment, focusing on employment, industrialisation, clean energy and climate resilience.
This new funding effort is part of a broader push to strengthen international financial partnerships. In late March, Team Europe announced an additional 1-billion-euro funding package to support implementation of the NDP, underscoring growing partner interest in Côte d'Ivoire's development trajectory.
