(Ecofin Agency) - As fuel scarcity persists in Nigeria, various filling stations are taking full advantage of the ongoing supply shortage by violating market regulations laid down by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

So far 97 filling stations in both Lagos and Ogun states have been sealed by the (DPR) for market violations. According to the DPR, in a statement the retail outlets violated various regulations and have been sanctioned accordingly.

Some filling stations caught selling above government stipulated prices and under-dispensing the product were fined the sum of N100, 000 per pump. Some operating without licence, were sealed. Some diverting products were fined N200 per litre while some were caught hoarding and their product were dispensed to the public for free.

It was a surprise that quite a number of the leading marketers’ branded outlets were caught violating DPR’s market regulations in Lagos. Amongst those caught were NNPC, Mobil, Conoil and many others, Sweet Crude reports.
