(Ecofin Agency) - In order to make its land policy more efficient, the ministry in charge of presidential projects, land development and equipment near the presidency (M2PATE), has opted for decentralization. In this framework was held on January 30, 2017, an inter-regional consultation workshop to develop a strategy which aims to support the decentralization of land management.
“The current government is determined to give back to its people their lands. During this meeting, locals will be consulted throughout the development of strategies. We wish to make land a pillar of sustainable growth by improving land rights tenure, giving rise to a harmonious land management and balancing needs actual and future needs for lands,” managing director of the land office, Hasimpirenena Rasolomampionona, told News Mada.
Doing so, the government should improve the various measures already implemented across the Island. Commenting the measures, secretary general of M2PATE, Georges Rasoamanana, says: “520 land offices since the initiative was put into motion in 2006 and 180,000 legal certificates were awarded”.
