Egypt and Germany signed a €129 million economic cooperation agreement during the 4-day visit of Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al-Sissi (photo) in Berlin in the framework of the meeting of the committee for Egypt-German cooperation.

The spokeswoman of the Egyptian presidency indicated that the two countries signed bilateral agreements including a statement of intent for a joint initiative in the general, technical, professional and dual education and another one aimed at strengthening their cooperation in the university teaching and scientific research sector. This initiative plans for the creation of an authority to monitor the quality of the education and a teachers’ training academy. The two countries also agreed for the creation of a German university of applied sciences in the new administrative capital of Egypt. This 700 sq. km will lodge more than 5 million people.

In her statement, Bassam Radi also explained that a cooperation agreement has been reached with Siemens for industrialization, vocational training assistance, improvement of the competitiveness of industrial zones and improvement of their exports capacities.

For Joseph Kaiser, Siemens’ CEO, there is no place in the world where infrastructures have been developing faster than in Egypt.

Let’s remind that three giant power plants have been built by Siemens in Egypt.
