It appears that in Algeria, half of the lands put at the disposal of investors for industrial use are yet to be exploited, a phenomenon that greatly impairs the economy. This was disclosed by the general secretary of the ministry of industry and mines, Kheïreddine Medjoubi, quoted by news website Liberté Algérie.
Qualifying the situation as “inadmissible”, the official revealed that from now on, the government will deal with it through severe sanctions. “According to Kheïreddine Medjoubi, general secretary of the ministry of industry and mines, 2018 will be the year for the great fight against land idleness. In this framework, he mentioned the implementation of a 5% tax on the market value of unused lands,” the news website reports.
Besides this, M. Medjoubi also mentioned his office’s plans to recover the unused lands by, if necessary, resorting to “administrative decisions”.
