DR Congo : Jean-Pierre Bemba ousted from the presidential race

On September 3, 2018, Congo’s constitutional court approved the invalidation of Jean-Pierre Bemba’s (photo) candidacy by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
This commission rejected his candidacy because of his indictment by the International Criminal Court in March 2018 for paying bribes to some witnesses.
Acquitted in June 2018 by the International Criminal Court, which sued him for war crimes and crimes against humanity, Jean-Pierre Bemba was welcomed by his supporters as a miracle. However, the man who spent the past ten years in prison in The Hague is now witnessing the extinction of his dream to become president.
