Last Saturday, M. Gonbagui Gueu George, prefect of the Boundiali department, urged chiefs of the 49 villages of his department to speed up process to complete demarcation of village territories before set deadline which is December 31, 2017. This was as the official met with the chiefs, according to the Agence ivoirienne de Presse (AIP).
“Two members of committees for rural land management from each of the villages was invited to the meeting. The various participants asked for the chiefs, especially canton chiefs, to really get involved as they have a deeper understanding of the limits set long ago in each village and also in the best interests of these,” the press agency added.
Let’s recall that Ivoirian authorities are currently carrying out a land tenure programme that led to constitutional reform and outreach campaigns to inform about the law regulating rural land in the country.
