Ivorian ministry of agriculture and rural development has secured from the African Development Bank (AfDB) FCFA3.8 billion ($6.2 million), reads a note published by l’Agence ivoirienne de presse.
“The grant which was provided in line with AfDB’s 2013-2017 Country Strategy Paper will be used to boost rural land management in the country. It will be used to establish Village Committees for Rural Land Management, curb inter-community conflicts, carry out sensitization campaigns on land legislation and land transfer rights for women, in addition to helping delineate 1,761 village territories in the Grand-Ouest and the North Eastern regions of Cote d’Ivoire,” says the note.
The ministry said a previous financing helped buy 15 cars and 75 bikes which “will be delivered to the Head Office of Rural Land and to the Regional and Departmental Head offices of areas covered by the project”.
