The news agency Algérie Presse Service (APS), reports that in Tipasa, Northern Algeria, land speculation and uncontrolled constructions increase so much that the wali, Moussa Ghelai (picture), decided to take action.
The news agency said: “In the recent years, the issue of uncontrolled constructions and damage to forest, maritime and agricultural lands has increased so much that Tipasa’s wali qualified it as a real disaster. This led authorities to engage a battle against the ‘land mafia’, implementing various measures to all properties built illegally”
What makes the phenomenon a particular concern for authorities is the fact that the majority of anarchic constructions are real estate buildings for commercial or tourist use. A "fraud" judicially condemned and in the framework of which many demolitions have already occurred.
