Ethiopia plans to build three new industrial zones during the 2018/2019 fiscal year, Lelise Neme, managing director of Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC) indicated last week.
According to the official’s statement reported by Xinhua, these industrial zones will be built in Aysha, Semera, and Assossa.
Added to the four others already launched by the government, these projects are aimed at facilitating the implementation of the national programme to transform Ethiopia’s economy from an agriculture-based one to one based on industry by 2025.
Textile and clothing sectors should be the main pillars for the development of those zones thanks to which authorities hope to attract new investors.
It is worth mentioning that by 2025, the country expects to have 30 industrial zones to boost job creation and the nation’s economy.
