In Togo, parliamentarians recently gathered to review and adopt two draft bills. Besides a vote on the composition and attributes of the National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH), this second ordinary session for 2017 also helped define the institution’s budget for 2018.
At the end of the meeting, it comes out that the national assembly’s budget for the country is estimated at CFA8.885 billion, up 56.3% compared to the budget adopted for 2017.
Togo’s national assembly is financially autonomous. As such, it has its own budget which is part of the State’s. In line with Article 82 of the Constitution, the Parliament has authority over its budget and decisions. It just informs the government about those.
