Côte d’Ivoire to launch a neighbourhood development programme in Abidjan
Monday, 11 March 2019 17:00

Cöte d’Ivoire will soon launch a renovation programme for precarious neighbourhoods in Abidjan, Bruno Nabagné Koné (photo), minister of urbanisation, indicates.

This programme whose cost has not been revealed yet should start with a pilot.

"We will launch the pilot project for the development of restructured neighbourhoods in Abidjan (projet pilote d’Aménagement des Quartiers Restructurés d’Abidjan-PAQRA) in Yopougon (Gesco restructuré), Abobo (PK 18) and Koumassi (Grand campement, Divo 1 and 2),” Bruno Nabagné Koné declared during the show "les Rendez-vous du gouvernement,” last week.

Thanks to this project, the said neighbourhoods will be provided basic infrastructures to improve residents’ living conditions.

Let’s note however that buildings erected on dangerous or flood-risk areas will not be taken into account for this project. They will be simply destroyed to protect residents, the official added.
