Algeria-Russia: Many cooperation agreements signed during Russia’s PM’s visit

Thursday, 12 October 2017 08:36

Last Thursday, Algeria and Russia have signed in Algiers many partnership and cooperation agreements and various memoranda of understanding, on the sidelines of an official visit in Algeria by Russia’s Prime Minister, Dmitri Medvedev.

The first convention inked concerns justice as it aims to boost cooperation and legal support between the two countries, in the criminal domain specifically.

The second agreement is for an executive cooperation programme in the health sector. Next is a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the pharmaceutical sector signed between the Tunisian private firm Biomap and Biocad, a private Russian firm.

The third agreement relates to an executive cooperation programme in the professional training sector.

In the oil and gas sector, a MoU between Sonatrach and Russian firm Transneft was signed. It concerns cooperation in terms of canalization and transport of oil and gas.

Finally, in the civic nuclear power sector, another MoU was signed by Algeria’s atomic energy commission and the Russian firm RosAtom, enabling cooperation and experience-sharing in this sector, in both countries.

Let’s recall that Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev came to Algeria on October 9, in the framework of a two-day official visit aiming to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two nations. Morocco is the next step in the Russian official’s African tour.
