(Ecofin Agency) - During the 2017-18 budget year, Ethiopia’s exports generated $2.8 billion, just above 50% of the whole year's target and $71.4 million lower than the previous year, the trade minister reported.
Main exported products came from agriculture (64.9%), manufacturing (45.9%) and mining (15.2%). According to the minister, the very poor performance is attributable, among others, to the higher level of smuggling, poor product and supply quality, instability in certain regions as well as the weakness of revenue collection systems.
