The Nigerien army and the multinational joint task force have, on May 12, neutralized at least 75 Boko Haram terrorists in Diffa and the Lake Chad region.
According to a statement by the Ministry of National Defense, 25 terrorists were killed in Diffa and 50 others in the Lake Chad zone on the Nigerian territory, making a total of 75. During the operation, the army seized weapons and ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, and various other materials for military use.
Terrorists’ shelters and logistics depots were also destroyed.
“Faced with the repeated attacks from Boko Haram on the positions of our defense and security forces, particularly those at the Nigerian border post of Diffa, on Sunday 3 and Saturday 9 May, the Nigerien armed forces undertook offensive and sweeping operations in the bed of Lake Chad,” the Ministry of Defense explained.
