World Bank will provide $60 million to help refugees and host communities in Chad, Soukeyna Kane, the bank’s country director, indicated this week.
According to statements relayed by Xinhua, this fund granted as donations will help implement the Projet d'appui aux réfugiés et aux communautés d'accueil (PARCA) aimed at creating favorable conditions for refugees and improve their living conditions.
The donation should, therefore, help improve the refugees and host communities’ access to basic social services and livelihood opportunities.
“This donation supplements the help local communities, Chad and international agencies are already providing to the about 450,000 refugees there”, Soukeyna Kane declared.
Thanks to this help, authorities expect to reach about 1.1 million citizens, 30-50% of which are refugees, according to estimates.
