Next April, payment of land taxes via mobile will be experimented in Cote d’Ivoire, revealed the government. This falls in line with its goal to “improve the management of small tax payers and better fight fiscal fraud”, said the Tax head office.
The land management office will now integrate the reform for e-payment which was announced on February 10 by Karim Traoré, Director of cabinet of the minister of budget and state’s portfolio. “We are no more at the project stage. It has been fully developed. As we are speak now, companies with a turnover exceeding FCFA200 million can proceed to tax declaration and pay taxes online,” the official then said.
If the experiment proves conclusive and becomes an habit for Ivorian taxpayers, it will significantly help the tax administration achieve its revenue target for the year, knowingly FCFA2,100 billion.
