Angola plans to invest $5 billion to develop water supply projects in the country, João Baptista Borges, the water and energy minister said.
According to the official’s comments relayed by Macauhub, these investments will mainly be directed to infrastructure construction and upgrading in order to supply running water to the population living in very remote areas.
For the record, in January 2017, the government of former President José Eduardo dos Santos adopted a national water plan (PNA) valued at $110 billion to help implement several strategies for water resources management, to provide all Angolans with running water by 2040.
Let’s note that according to statistics, in 2017, about 40% of the world’s 50th most populous country did not have access to drinking water.
