Flash International, associated with Schoolap, today announced the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding aimed at connecting to deploy all of its digital services in several thousand schools in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including a broadband Internet connection. Thus, through a partnership with Konnect Africa, schools will receive a broadband Internet connection, providing access to other services that Schoolap offers for the entire education system, in particular, school administration and access to official education content through their online applications.
The first phase of the project aims to connect 3,600 private schools in the next 12 months by relying on Konnect Africa’s satellite capacity and its technical expertise, particularly in terms of installation.
Each school will subscribe to the Home Unlimited package and thus gain access to a broadband Internet service. Then the project could be extended to several tens of thousands of schools additionally, thereby satisfying the needs of state policy in the field of digital inclusion.
As a reminder, Flash International had previously signed a partnership contract with Konnect Africa for the distribution of Konnect's kits in The Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to provide broadband connectivity to populations located in areas with little or no service by offering a affordable solution, more flexible and accessible everywhere. Operating today from capacity leased from a third-party operator, Konnect Africa will see its in-orbit resources increased tenfold with the entry into service of the EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite in the fall of 2020. With a total capacity of 75 Gbps, EUTELSAT KONNECT will provide speeds of up to 100 Mbps and will in particular provide total or partial coverage of 40 African countries.
