Egypt generated EGP179.2 billion ($10.14 billion) from public revenues during the first four months (July-October 2017) of the 2017-18 fiscal year. This was revealed by the country’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Taxes represent the largest part (77.9%) of these revenues. Indeed, during the period under review, Egypt collected EGP139.6 billion ($7.9 billion) taxes, against EGP89.5 billion ($5 billion) during this same period in 2016-17. Other revenues, representing 22.1% of the total revenues, stood at EGP39.6 billion (about $2.24 billion).
