Algeria: In Boumerdès, investors denounce cumbersome procedures for land acquisition

Monday, 28 August 2017 12:05

In Algeria, actors of the agrofood industry gathered at the first agrofood fair held from August 22 to 26 at the Maison de l’environnement of Bourmerdès, in the Northern part of the country. At the occasion, the investors shed light on some of the administrative challenges they often face, El Watan reported.

“There is a number of administrative roadblocks at the customs level. Also, before getting the needed document, about ten middle-men are involved in the process. This impairs the country’s economic and financial dynamics,” denounced representative of Italian group Gruppo Cremonini Inalca which for two years now has been engaged in an operation to secure a land operating license in Algeria.

Reacting against the multiple complaints, the Bourmerdès wali reassured the concerned parties that efforts are being made to simplify and accelerate administrative processes in order to attract and preserve investments. “We are actually restructuring the industrial land sector to obtain specialized economic zones,” the official added.
