Chad will benefit from a support of $125 million from World Bank to fund its development projects, the news agency Xinhua indicated citing official sources.
According to the information relayed by the media, the support would be provided as donations in the framework of two agreements signed by the Chadian minister of economy Issa Doubragne and World Bank resident representative François Nankobogo, last Friday.
The funds should provide a budget support to the government to improve economic resilience and kick-start recovery measures. It should also help fund the refugees and host communities’ support program.
The country affected by economic crisis exacerbated by heavy debt is also facing, for years now, an influx of refugees from conflict zones notably, regions affected by attacks perpetrated by Boko Haram, Sudan, and Central Africa.
Let’s note that the new funding was approved by the administrative Board of World Bank on September 12, 2018.
