On October 30, 2018, Burkina Faso officially launched the construction of Ouagadougou expressway.
Inscribed on the country’s economic and social program (Programme national de développement économique et social-PNDES), this 125 kilometers expressway will cross three regions and link more than nine districts.
Estimated to cost about XOF181 billion (about $313 million), the expressway will be built by EBOMAF in the framework of a public-private partnership.
"This expressway will help fluidify the road traffic in Ouagadougou and liven the economic sector. All this will contribute to the reduction of road accidents. This means that the project will have an enormous impact on Burkina Faso’s capital", Armand Roland Pierre Beouindé, mayor of Ouagadougou said.
Let’s note that Liberia’s president George Weah, invited by Burkina Faso's president Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, took part in this launch.
