Ghana: Italian firm Micoperi wins engineering and construction contract for Tema LNG

(Ecofin Agency) - Micoperi has been chosen as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for Tema Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Ghana.

According to the Italian offshore contractor, the project will commence this year will have a capacity of approximately 3.40 mtpa of LNG, which is equal to 500 Mmscf/d of gas, using a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) anchored 12 km offshore Tema.

The facility will be able to fuel more than 2,000 MW of power generation.

In February, Quantum Power and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) entered into heads of terms for the building and operation of the LNG import facilities at Tema, LNG World News reports.
