Over the first half of 2016, Gabon’s telecom industry generated a turnover of CFA138.1 billion, up 2.3% compared to the first six months of 2015.
The figures which are published in the half-year sectoral report of quarterly release from the directorate general of economy and public policy attest that the telecom sector is faring better than last year.
In regards to the number of mobile phone users, the report states that it rose by 4.7% to 2.8 million active users. Meanwhile, the number of landline users increased by 7.9%.
However, mobile internet users decreased by 6%, standing at 394,000 active users at the end June 2016, though 3G and 4G were deployed in Libreville and inside the country by two mobile operators.
