The Angolan telecoms minister, José Carvalho Da Rocha, and the Finnish communications minister, Sanna Marin, have agreed to collaborate in broadband and information and communications technologies.
The document was signed last week during a working visit to Helsinki by an Angolan delegation led by the minister. According to José Carvalho Da Rocha, “the challenge of the new Angola is to provide quality and affordable services, to build the infrastructure that will connect cities with optical fiber - this service has already reached about 65% of the country - and to develop a space program to cover the territory by satellite.”
The country, which relies heavily on ICT to accelerate its socio-economic development, sees Finland's expertise as an example in order to take advantage of the new technologies and services with high added value that are on the horizon: 5G, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, etc.
The Angolan minister also expressed his desire to welcome Finnish companies in his country. To this end, he met Finnish investors interested in financing ICT projects, innovative technology companies and start-ups.
