Telecom Egypt – WE has signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei to upgrade its network with advanced technology, paving the way for Egypt’s 5G rollout. The partnership was announced in a press release shared by Zawya on March 4. The collaboration makes Telecom Egypt the first operator in Egypt and North Africa to deploy cutting-edge outdoor and indoor solutions, according to Huawei.

Telecom Egypt CEO Mohamed Nasr Eldin expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are proud to cooperate with Huawei, which is a strategic partner for us in localizing the ICT industry and implementing the digital transformation strategy in Egypt. We are also pleased that Huawei with its expertise in this field will enable us maintain our leading position in providing the latest and best technological solutions to our customers and offering high-quality 5G services.”
The collaboration will enhance Telecom Egypt’s network by integrating Huawei’s BladeAAU technology, optimizing space utilization for antenna installations, and laying the foundation for future 5G advancements. Additionally, the operator is deploying the region’s first 5G Digital Indoor System (DIS) using three frequency bands and V-MIMO technology. Initial tests have demonstrated download speeds exceeding 300 Mbps, highlighting the potential for a superior user experience.
Huawei Egypt CEO Benjamin Hou commented, “This cooperation affirms the confidence and assurance in our ability in providing the best leading solutions worldwide to prepare Telecom Egypt's network to lay groundwork for 5G, in addition to the growth of 4G.”
As part of its 5G expansion strategy, Telecom Egypt is prioritizing optimal indoor and outdoor coverage, especially for high-value users. The implementation of BladeAAU MM 64T technology is expected to significantly boost 5G network capacity, while DIS solutions will replace traditional Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) due to their enhanced efficiency and user experience.
The agreement complements Telecom Egypt’s mission of being the best source of total communication solutions.
