Nigeria: Globacom launches 4G to remain number data network

(Ecofin Agency) - Globacom Nigeria has launched 4G. The firm which is owned by Nigerian business mogul Mike Adenuga revealed on its website that its users in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, jos, Warri, Eket, Ibom, Benin City, Yola and Zaria could now benefit from the high-speed internet technology.

Globacom’s head of corporate sales in Nigeria, Kamaldeen Shonibare, said rates for data bundles associated with the service were affordable. They go as follows : 16 GB for N500 ($1.65), 3.2 GB for N1,000 ($3.30), 7.5 GB for N2,000 ($6.59), 10 GB for N2,500 ($8.24), 18 GB for N4,000 ($13.20) and 24 GB for N5,000 ($16.5).

While MTN is still testing 4G, Kamaldeen Shonibare said : “We’re the next generation network, the grandmasters of data. That is why we habe taken the lead in providing 4G LTE nationwide with mobility for Nigerians. We want them to experience the power of real time mobile broadband technology at the most affordable rates”

By launching 4G, Globacom intends to reinforce its position as Nigeria’s number one data network.
