Tunisie Telecom and Ooredoo have signed a sharing agreement for radio infrastructure

Saturday, 10 October 2015 18:32

The national telecommunications operator Tunisie Telecom and the Qatari mobile operator Ooredoo signed a partnership agreement on their radio infrastructure this 9th October 2015. Through this operation, both companies will be using each other’s equipment and frequencies to carry the telecom services of the other in areas not covered by its network. We are talking here about 3G network.

In financial terms, such an agreement is a boon for both telecom companies. It will help in reducing in a significant way the expenditure for the network expansion, thus allowing the two operators to put more focus in their investments on improving the quality of services. There is no more need to jump into vast projects for the construction of telecoms towers in areas where one of the partners is already established. The other partner will simply need to use the network of its associate. Another benefit, network maintenance expenditure will be decreased since it will be shared between the two companies.

For consumers of telecom services, the benefit is evident. They will be able to have easier access to the services of Tunisie Telecom or Ooredoo throughout the country. Tunisie Telecom has a larger network coverage countrywide.
