The mobile network operator Méditel, subsidiary of French telecom group Orange, signed an agreement with M2M group, specialised in the conception and development of data cloud management and secured electronic transactions solutions. Through this partnership, both companies will put in place joint workshops for the creation of packages and offers targeting connected devices. The partnership between Méditel and M2M represents a strategic investment in a new fast-growing digital sector, with a high added value.
Device internet, IDC stresses, could be an important growth and dynamism factor for the development of Africa. It will make it possible to collect and analyse a varied quantity of data which, judiciously used by governments, could contribute to the elaboration of efficient development policies. For Méditel and M2M group, providing solutions in this new digital environment represents a new source of substantial revenue with 2 outputs: For the governments and for the consumers.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), with the ongoing improvement of the broadband connectivity through optic fibre and satellite in Africa, the future of connected devices on the continent appears glorious.Watches, televisions, glasses, tablets, etc, for IDC by 2020, there should be at least 210 billion connected devices in the world out of which 1/7th would be completely autonomous.
In Africa, considered the telecom market of the future, several billion connected devices are expected within the next 5 years.
