MTN has officially launched 4G in Congo on December 10, 2016. The Congolese people now have access to the fast internet technology which gives access to value-added services. Prime Minister, Mr. Clement Mouamba, was the one to launch the technology in Brazzaville, the capital.
Commenting the launch, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunication, Léon Juste Ibombo, said it results from the full commitment of the National Posts and Telecommunication Regulatory Agency. The institution assessed MTN’s technical capacities and deemed them sufficient to launch 4G.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ibombo reminded telecom operators of the need to provide a service of excellent quality to let customers fully enjoy high-speed internet. “Be thorough about the quality of services provided, in respect to the specification accompanying the 4G licence,” he told the operators.
According to Djibril Ouattara, Managing Director MTN Congo, 2016 was peculiar for the firm as it achieved a record in terms of investment made. The company mostly invested in the expansion of its 3G network and to acquire the 4G licence. Ouattara also told the government that MTN would respect its commitment to improve the quality of its service.
