In partnership with MainOne, the Lagos State government launched a free public Wi-Fi project in Lagos. This, on the sidelines of the 50th anniversary of the State’s creation.
The news was disclosed by the Executive Governor of the Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode. He said the project will cover parks and gardens in the city. “Parks and Gardens are established to provide conducive environment for recreation and relaxation activities. As you relax and enjoy the recreational facilities in these parks, we are making it possible for you to access your mail, browse and search the internet on your tablets, smart phones and laptops via a reliable public Wi-Fi,” Ambode said.
Commenting the development, MainOne Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Funke Opeke, lauded the government of the Lagos State for its efforts towards becoming a Smart City. According to her, ICT will improve the quality of life of populations as it will be more accessible to public and educational institutions, transportation systems, hospitals and other community services.
