Launched by the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Seychelles Travel Guide is an app which is mainly intended for tourists who come to the 115-Islands archipelago.
“With the help of new technologies, we tried to put everything in one app, from housing, to restaurants, attractions and touristic activities,” said Vahid Jacob, STB’s e-marketing chief.
The app’s functionalities were presented during its launching ceremony, last Sept 8. It includes maps of the archipelago, specially designed to help tourists easily situate themselves. A GPS was even integrated to the maps for mobile phones users. The augmented reality function also helps locate interesting places in the surroundings (restaurants, cafés, etc.) by pointing the device in a specific direction. The user can leave comments about places visited.
The app can be used offline and is available in multiple languages. The user is also connected to Facebook while using it. “The app will boost Seychelles’ visibility on social networks,” Vahid Jacob said.
