Gabon Telecom commits to investing FCFA2bn in the Ogooué-Maritime province

Gabon Telecom’s director general, Abderrahim Koumaa, met with the governor of the Ogooué-Maritime province, Martin Boguikouma, during the military-medical maneuvers held in this part of the country from April 8 to April 12, 2016. Mr. Koumaa told the governor his firm will invest FCFA2 billion in the region.

Gabon Telecom who sees a huge potential in the Ogooué-Maritime province, would like to boost and reinforce its internet offer as demand by local population and firms for broadband keeps rising. The firm’s director added that “it will improve its service to companies in order to go global”. Among the investments announced, one involves solar energy project which is to be used to power some of Gabon Telecom’s equipment. The company wishes to make 3G stable. It also wants to rehabilitate many of its installations and expand its network coverage thus getting closer to its customers.  

Gabon Telecom, who is behind Airtel in terms of market shares, is looking for market niches in which to invest to boost its presence in the country. Improving access to its services in other parts of Gabon will help the telecom operator retain its current clients and win more even, subsequently boosting its earnings.
