Tunisie Telecom to accelerate installation of optic fibre in new cities, by 2017

Monday, 16 May 2016 16:40

Nizar Bouguila, CEO Tunisie Telecom, announced on May 11, 2016, that the installation of fiber optic across Tunisia would be accelerated, by 2017. The executive said this on the second day of a property promotion event, held in Tunis and entitled “Promotion immobilière, outil de reliance économique” (Promoting estate development, a tool to restart the economy).

Accelerating the installation of fiber optic will help Tunisie Telecom meet the commitments to which it agreed in the convention it signed last year with the National Committee Chamber of Property Promoters and Developers. The convention plans for the “installation of fiber optic in all new estates and buildings,” said Nizar Bouguila. He added that many areas of Grand Tunis such as the Lac, Enasr, and Sidi Bou Said, had already been connected, by his firm, to the optical fiber.

Nizar Bouguila highlighted that the main goal behind the acceleration of the installation of optical fiber in estates and buildings, was the provision of a better Internet connection to citizens, in other parts of the capital and other governorates with high population density. This operation should help Tunisie Telecom achieve its goal to become a digital services provider.
