Burkina Faso hosts the first edition of the African conference on telecommunications regulation

Wednesday, 17 October 2018 19:44

African telecommunications regulators plan to mutualize their efforts for a better regulation of the market on the continent. In that regard, there would be a meeting from October 16 to 18 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, for the first African conference on digital economy regulation (conférence africaine sur la régulation et l’économie numérique-CAREN).

During the event organized by Burkina Faso telecommunications regulator (ARCEP) and Télécom Paris Tech, participants will exchange on many themes such as the opportunities and risks of digitalization of economies and companies, financial inclusion, social media use, E-commerce development, artificial intelligence, and Big data.

For Bilé Diéméléou, managing director of Côte d'Ivoire telecom regulator, this meeting is the proof that "African solidarity is not just a meaningless word". "We must act collectively to meet the legitimate expectations of our population by providing them with innovative, integrated and inclusive solutions that would positively impact their lives", he said.
