Algeria: Mobilis more than ready for 4G

Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:58

Only six days left before telecom operators that applied for a 4G licence from the Post and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ARPT) are known. Among these are Mobilis whiwh is extremely impatient regarding the outcome of the process on May 23, 2016. On the World day for telecommunication and information society in Tunisia, interim chief executive of Mobilis has told Algérie Presse Service that the firm has been ready for 4G for a long time.

Preparation for the technology was initiated by the firm in 2013 when 3G was launched, Habib revealed. The CEO of Mobilis said: During the dimensioning of our 3G network, as we would someday switch to 4G, we took this option in consideration. Regarding 4G’s commercialization, he added that “some software update would be done on 3G equipment which will switch to 4G”.

Mobilis puts a lot of hope in 4G. The telecom firm is counting on the technology’s high data capacity to seduce its customers and new users, by providing new apps, services and content with added value which will improve their mobile experience. Anticipating the needs that 4G would trigger, Mobilis signed in January 2014 a 3-year framework partnership agreement with Ecole Supérieure d’Informatique (ESI) to produce mobile innovations.
