Cameroon: Mobile network Orange subject to big disruptions for a week

Once more, the subscribers of the mobile telephone operator Orange are experiencing bad quality of service. For a week now in Yaoundé, it is difficult to call, voice communication is unsteady, one has to keep trying to send one text message.

Subscribers to the Mobile Money service can neither pay their bills, nor withdraw money. The USSD code is not available, one can read in the message received after each attempt to activate the service. In the Orange stores, and even at Total, Orange's Mobile Money partner, the employees explain to clients that the service is unavailable et they have to wait till the network resumes normal functions.

For internet users, the connection speed is reduced. Sometimes there is no connection at all. Working efficiently in these conditions is quite difficult. Sometimes the telephone screen shows the notification "no network, emergency calls only - Orange". On the company's part, no explanations have been provided to justify this lack of quality service which has an impact on the activities of the subscribers. On the other hand, the numerous tariff promotions and other sale promotions are still being offered to subscribers through SMS...
