JSE - listed (Johannesburg Stock Exchange) IT company Altron and Huawei partnered to offer Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to African companies, the two companies announced on October 17, 2018.
According to Mteto Nyati (photo), Altron Group’s CEO, this partnership will help meet the growing demand for IoT solutions in the African market.
"We want to see smart waste bins that monitor waste levels, which leads to better waste management and streamlined pickup schedules. Our partnership with Huawei will enable us to offer these solutions in our market", said Mteto Nyati.
The officer sees in IoT numerous services its company can offer in various sectors such as transports, building, health, industry, and Automobile.
Fan Wen, managing director of Huawei South Africa, revealed that more than 80,000 of their research and development experts have been working with Altron’s technical experts to develop unhackable smart solutions using IoT. He added that Altron’s technicians and engineers will be trained thanks to the Open Lab platform of Huawei Technologies in Johannesburg.
