Morocco: Inwi launches sharing of 4G connection to attract more customers

Tuesday, 20 October 2015 16:23

The mobile operator Inwi, third on the national market in terms of number of subscribers, has just launched a service designed for sharing 4G connection. With no contract and only available to mobile devices, the offer called “i-dar” will enable 5 mobile devices to operate on the same 4G internet plan within and outside the household, and even simultaneously. With this offer, it is clear that Inwi wants to increase the consumption on its 4G service.

By allowing the sharing of 4G, Inwi is looking to drive the quick renewal of Internet plans which will expire more quickly thanks to an increased and diversified use. In the case of families for example, if adults whose interest is not vested in ICT according to numerous reports on internet usage trends in Africa, will focus on their basic needs such as information searches and checking emails, young people on the other hand, who make up the real Internet market on the continent, will devote their time to social networks, online videos, music and movie downloads, calls over internet, all activities which use a lot of data.

By pushing this increase in 4G data usage through innovative offers such as connection sharing, Inwi’s strategy is simple: give the possibility to a greater number of people to experience its high speed broadband network and make its 4G profitable in the short term.
