Orange in talks with Airtel over Burkina Faso, Congo-Brazzaville, Sierra Leone and Chad subsidiaries

Orange and Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV have engaged in exclusive negotiations for four Airtel subsidiaries in Africa.
The Airtel subsidiaries targeted for acquisition by Orange are that of Burkina Faso, Congo-Brazzaville, Sierra Leone and Chad. The parties specified that discussions would not necessarily result in a firm agreement.
In March, the two operators had already linked their Mobile Money operations between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso. Rumours had then spread on a possible merger.
