(Ecofin Agency) - Bellal Mekkid, CEO of mobile operator Mobilis, announces the company will start experimenting 5G technology across the country from August 2020. He said this on July 18, 2020, during the launch of a parental control service called “MobiliS@fe,” designed to help parents control and monitor their children's use of the Internet.
The manager said all the necessary means will be made available for this test phase, which will pave the way for the real deployment of the 5G network. The testing will be carried out by zones, starting in Algiers. It will be conducted in line with the 4G telecom network coverage sites in the country.
The success of this project will give Mobilis, subsidiary of the incumbent operator Algérie Telecom, an opportunity to position itself on the national telecom market where competition is increasing with each telecom operator investing to upgrade its network.
As a reminder, the telecom company received a formal warning from the telecom regulator for failures in service quality and coverage of 4G networks in the wilayas of Blida, Djelfa, Tlemcen, Adrar, and Constantine.
