Frédéric Debord, appointed Managing Director of Inwi since the inception of activities of the telecom company in 2009 has tendered his resignation during the Board meeting which took place on 18th September 2015. According to the Moroccan news website 360, the French executive has left due to unsatisfactory performance. However, the payment for the first time by Inwi of about 300 million dirhams in dividends for the fiscal year 2014 seemed to rather reveal a positive financial situation.
A positive outlook confirmed by Frédéric Debord himself who declared in the 6th March 2015 edition of Moroccan newspaper L’Economiste that “the payment of dividends is the result of a long process of consolidation of our economic model, which led Inwi to conditions of good financial health”. Even the last market statistics from the Instance Nationale des Télécommunications (INT) agreed with the assessment of growth at Inwi. The telecom company had the highest number of new subscribers during the second quarter 2015, about 33,000 new clients.
From 2010 to 2015, Inwi moved from a mobile market share of 2.39% to 27.28% by 30th June 2015, even though it remained 3rd in terms of market share. Moreover, the company invested 10 billion dirhams over 5 years to update and expand its network for 4G. But this progress did not really convince the management of Inwi. The appointment of Nadia Fassi-Fihri on 16th June 2015 as CEO, with the main objective of ensuring a more dynamic management, was proof enough.
