Mobile operator Intercel+, subsidiary of Sudanese group Expresso Telecom, announced on November 16 that it signed a partnership agreement with Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL) under which CBNL is to deploy high-speed Wi-Fi across the country for Intercel+.
The first stage of the project during which the Wi-Fi will be deployed in Conakry has started, Intercel+ revealed. The next stage will see Wi-Fi deployed in other major towns and business areas of Guinea, then it will extend to areas with poor access to Telecom networks.
Wireless internet which Cambridge Broadband Networks is deploying for Intercel+ will be supported by the ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) fibre optic submarine cable. Mutaz Elbadawi, marketing director of the telecom operator, said the firm aims through this project to provide population a greater telecom experience, and change the country's business environment.
The director said the network that Intercel+ wants to develop “can revolutionize high-speed internet in Guinea, help companies get added value, compete in international markets and transform their growth potential”.
