On 13 January 2015, the National Telecommunications Regulations Authority (ANRT) had forced Maroc Telecom to set the technical and pricing terms and conditions for the local fibre optic loop and sub-loop. These offers were expected until 20 January 2015. Eight months later, mobile operators Méditel and Inwi are still waiting for the price and services list from the national telecommunications operator that the telecom regulatory body must validate.
In an interview given to the news website media24, Michel Paulin, Managing Director of Méditel, mentioning the desire of his company to come together to provide reliable services to its clients in order to ensure a telecom experience of quality, stressed that the delay of Maroc Telecom in applying the instructions from ANRT represented an obstacle for his company. For him, the sharing of infrastructure is more than necessary, especially in a telecom environment which is rapidly developing.
Through the loca loop unbundling that Maroc Telecom is objecting to implementing, the telecom regulatory body wants to remove several access restrictions put in place by the national telecommunications operator to limit the use of its technical equipment by its competitors. By giving all the mobile market operators the same equal opportunities, ANRT is sure of creating healthy competition for the benefit of consumers.
