On March 2, 2016, the Tunisian Minister of Communication Technology and Digital Economy will reveal the names of the three telecom operators who will get 4G licence, ilboursa.com reports. Initially planned for February 29, 2016, the announcement has been postponed with no explanation.
It should be recalled that last November 3, 2015, minister of Communication Technology and Digital Economy officially launched an international call to tenders for 4G installation and operation. Selected bidders were to have their own infrastructure and were to have being operating a land mobile licence for at least five years.
Examination of bidders’ technical, administrative and financial files opened on February 1, 2016. Successful bidders will be known upon the closure of this process. However, date of closure remains unknown. Tunisia’s telecom ministry expects 4G to operational by the beginning of the second semester 2016.
