Zimbabwean public mobile operator NetOne, subsidiary of TelOne, has launched its new mobile money service, on October 25, 2017. Named OneMoney, this service is a substitute to OneWallet wich failed due to some shortcomings. According to the operator, this new service will not only be better than the previous one but also come with inherent innovations.
During the launch ceremony for the new product, NetOne’s CEO, Brian Mutandiro, said: “We are cognisant of the fact that millions of subscribers have migrated to our network and kept on holding other network provider lines because they could not efficiently do mobile transfers using our previous platform. OneMoney is finally here and indeed this is the most effective platform you can get. We have invested in a robust system, one of the best in the world that gives our customers convenience”.
Brian Mutandiro added that NetOne will insure that OneMoney is available even in the country’s most remote areas.
For Supa Mandiwanzira, the minister of ICT, OneMoney comes to reinforce competition in the local Mobile Money sector, to the great benefit of populations.
